A MAN who hurled a tirade of abuse at police has avoided jail despite being in breach of a suspended prison sentence. Jordan Moon, aged 20, had twice stabbed a man who accused him of spreading rumours about his girlfriend's sex life. But he breached the suspended sentence for that offence by abusing a woman police sergeant for 15 minutes as she tried to question him. Judge Ian Lawrie said the incident was "deeply unpleasant". But he added: "I note where the offence falls in the spectrum of criminal behaviour and we need to keep a sense of proportion. The offence of actual bodily harm is of some age." Moon, of Dryburgh Crescent, Ham, had earlier pleaded guilty to threatening or insulting behaviour on August 16. The offence put him in breach of a two-year suspended sentence imposed in February for an offence of assault causing actual bodily harm in April 2013. He stabbed a former friend with a vegetable knife after accusing him of spreading rumours about his partner's sex life, the court heard. Deni Mathews, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said the police sergeant wanted to question him about an unrelated matter in August. He added he spent 15 minutes abusing her and filmed the incident on his mobile. Garth Richardson, for Moon, said he had real mental health difficulties and was waiting to see a consultant psychiatrist. He said the defendant was on medication and had trouble coping with stressful situations. Mr Richardson added that as soon as he calmed down he apologised to the officers. Judge Lawrie imposed a nominal £10 fine for the breach. Moon was handed a 12-month community order and told to work with the probation service for 15 days. He must pay £180 criminal courts charge and £60 victim surcharge.
